Congratulatory message from Mehmet Tohti:

I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations on the establishment of Uyghur Post. And I believe it is a remarkable milestone for our people and the independent reporting from Uyghur’s perspective.

Especially, it is important at a time when the Chinese Communist Party continues to weaponize its misinformation and disinformation campaign to conceal its ongoing Uyghur genocide and the crime against Uyghurs.

The creation of this sort of independent Uyghur voice is both urgent and historic.

Uyghur Post is going to fill a long-standing vacuum in independent Uyghur media and independent reporting. And we know that it is impossible to create such a platform under Chinese-occupied East Turkistan. Its emergence—the emergence of this independent Uyghur media, Uyghur Post—is going to ensure that the truth of our people’s suffering under genocide, and our resilience in exile, can reach a global audience without distortion.

With this new platform, the Uyghur voice will now have a direct and unfiltered presence in the international media landscape. This Uyghur Post is going to offer clarity to the situation and evidence, and a powerful counter to the CCP narrative and propaganda.

My deepest gratitude goes to my dear friend Tahir Imin Uyghurian and his colleagues for their vision, courage, and dedication in bringing Uyghur Post to life.

And your work strengthens our collective struggle for justice, dignity, and truth.

And warmest congratulations again and my best wishes for the path ahead. Thank you.

He continues to advocate for federal and provincial action against products made with Uyghur forced labor, and he and his organization have been sanctioned by the Chinese government.
