Uyghur Post:  Independent News About and for the Global Uyghur Community

Uyghur Post is an independent, professional Uyghur-language news platform dedicated to providing the global Uyghur community with credible, trustworthy journalism and a space for authentic Uyghur voices in the international media landscape.

Uyghur Post delivers critical news, thoughtful analysis, and timely reports on human rights, culture, politics, and economics—covering developments in the homeland, the global diaspora, and international responses affecting Uyghurs.
We also serve as a free and open platform presenting diverse Uyghur voices, perspectives, and lived experiences on topics that matter to the global Uyghur diaspora, such as language, culture, immigration, and education.

Mission

Our mission is to document and report the ongoing story of the Uyghur people through credible, professional, and ethical Uyghur-language journalism. Uyghur Post covers developments in the homeland, diaspora, and global community, upholding truth, free expression, and integrity, while providing a trusted platform for diverse Uyghur perspectives.

Founding of Uyghur Post

The Uyghur diaspora has long needed an independent, objective media organization that not only reports on developments in the Uyghur homeland but also offers an open, inclusive platform for the diverse voices and perspectives within the global Uyghur community—ensuring that the stories of ordinary, often-forgotten Uyghurs around the world are heard and preserved.

In the absence of widely recognized and trustworthy news outlets, unverified information, internal disputes, and Chinese state-sponsored disinformation have increasingly filled the information space—further undermining the Uyghur community’s pursuit of truth, free expression, and informed public discourse.

Recognizing this urgent need, Tahir Imin, Uyghur linguist and researcher —together with the support of a group of Uyghur intellectuals—established the Uyghur Media Council and went on to found and launch UyghurPost.com, a professional and independent Uyghur-language media platform dedicated to restoring an authentic and credible Uyghur voice in the global information landscape.

Uyghur Post currently operates as a registered business entity and is in the process of transitioning into a formal non-profit organization. It remains fully independent from any political entity. The platform is guided by an autonomous administrative and editorial board, supported by a team of reporters, writers, and commentators. Our reporters maintain strict non-affiliation with all political parties and organizations. At present, Uyghur Post is sustained by a dedicated group of administrators and contributors who ensure the outlet’s financial self-sufficiency.

The editorial team includes several prominent Uyghur figures: writer, filmmaker, and poet Tahir Hamut Izgil (Editor-in-Chief); former Radio Free Asia senior reporter Shohret Hoshur (Editorial Advisor); editor and journalist Selime Kamal (Managing Editor, Australia); Uyghur writer Abduweli Ayup (Editor-at-Large, Norway); reporter and editor Muhemmed Abdumijit (Editor, Norway); and linguist and researcher Abdurehim Parach (Editor, Türkiye).
